Background of the home:
HIV/AIDS is one of the most challenging public
health problem faced in India. Though awareness can be
created among the various groups of people yet it is difficult
to explain the facts of the killer syndrome to the tender
and vulnerable children who are the major victims of this
infection. According to the recent statistics that more
than five thousand children are infected in Tamil Nadu
alone.
In response to the escalation of the high rate of
infection and considering the plight of the children
SIP Memorial Trust initiated the home for infected and
affected children in the year 2005 in Chennai, to provide
a supportive assistance to the orphan children who are
excluded from the joy of a normal childhood.
Our Vision:
We aim that no children have to endure the
state of homelessness besides the plight of the children
who are orphaned due to AIDS epidemic should gradually
come down. Moreover we wish soon these kinds of support
shelters exists in the form of records in the history
and not as destitute homes.

1. Home based care:
Our home provides the children with most awaited
care and attention, addressing to their physical and
emotional needs with the help of a team of dedicated
and professional volunteers.
2. Education:
The home’s educational initiatives starts
by enrolling the children in the near by corporation
school and according to their meritorial performance
they are shifted to the private school for pursuing
their higher education.
3. Skill development training:
Apart from the regular schooling, the trust
also concentrates in identifying and bringing out the
hidden talents of each individual child through creative
training classes. They are given a chance to portray
their talents in the field of painting, singing, dancing
and other handcrafts training.
4. Supplementary education:
The home is also planning to provide special
coaching and computer education as per the requirements
of the individuals, which will be an additional support
to nurture the intellectual ability of these children.
5. Medical Support:
Every child under goes a health screening that
gives the status of his/her present health condition.
The child then receives the medical treatment as per
the individual reports. These medical records are maintained
for further subsequent monthly check – ups.
Counselling as a part of the medical treatment is provided
to the children to build good value system, which moulds
them to a holistic life.
6. Recreation:
To out grow the embedded thoughts of irrevocable
losses of the past, outgoing is a good source of emotional
relaxation for the children. They are taken to the nearby
places for small vacation depending on their interest.
